Finchley Extension gets Planning

Lynas Architecture is happy to announce that we have just secured Planning Permission for the extension and renovation of a 2 storey, detached house in North London for a private client. The project involves the removal of an existing extension, the erection of a new rear and side extension at ground and first floor and the conversion of the loft area of the house.

This project required a sensitive approach to meet the numerous demands of this site. The design had to complement the existing character of the house, the local street scape and neighbouring properties. The project has been carefully designed to complement the scale and style of the existing building. This will provide high quality, bright, contemporary living spaces, transforming the existing building and meeting the changing needs and aspirations of our clients.

This continues the culture of Lynas Architecture delivering high quality designs for a range of projects, from large scale residential developments, to one-off, bespoke house extensions.

Belsize Park: Renovation

Last year we commenced work for clients of ours renovating a 1991 built apartment building in Belsize Park. The building sits in one of the beautiful tree-lined streets of the conservation area but is in much need of the work now being carried out. The 12 flats were to be stripped, spaces reworked and finishes upgraded with new floors, kitchens and bathrooms. We also proposed higher door openings and improved electrics to create luxury flats, appropriate to the address.

The scheme went to site earlier this year and strip-out is well underway. Door openings are being increased, temporary propping allowing the lintels to be taken out and repositioned. Walls have been removed, some new walls built. Scaffolding is going up on the external faces to allow inspection of the roof, walls and windows and make minor repairs where necessary, communal parts and lifts are being stripped and prepared for decoration.

The construction project is on time and things are going well. The building is breathing again now the tired carpets, joinery and old fixtures have been ripped out and it is possible to see the new spaces being formed, even at this early stage.
